"We seek inspiration where
others are afraid to look.
We like solutions,
but we love problems.
We don’t just reach for the stars,
we create them and
Hold on for dear life.
We fight gravity."
Brainwash Café in SOMA is a neighborhood mainstay, offering the option to do your laundry while you chow down on lunch. They also have a wall of rotating local artists, and for the month of November I was chosen to hang my own eclectic mix of paintings and drawings.
When I’m not at Astro working on our next newsletter or campaign, I’m trying to put my fine arts background to good use. I focused a lot on life drawing and painting in school, and usually come back to the human form when making something new. Recently I’ve been trying to break my own rules and try to do the opposite of what I was taught, just to see what happens. I’ve been having fun cutting up old Anthropologie catalogues and mixing the clippings in with simple pen drawings. This show is a diverse display fitting for the colorful clientele of Brainwash.
The show is up through November. Go see it for yourself!
