"We seek inspiration where
others are afraid to look.
We like solutions,
but we love problems.
We don’t just reach for the stars,
we create them and
Hold on for dear life.
We fight gravity."
Introducing Astro’s new intern, Autumn Martin! Autumn comes to us by way of New York, and is a fourth year Entrepreneurship student at Northeastern University in Boston, Massachusetts. She is getting a comprehensive intro to San Francisco - living in the Mission, you can catch her eating tacos at neighborhood staple, La Taqueria, or perfecting her down dog at Yoga to the People. Autumn is working in the city this fall as part of an internship program through the D’Amore-McKim School of Business, where students get to experience vibrant SF life for a semester.
Astro is excited to partner with Northeastern to pioneer their first ever Semester in Silicon Valley program. Northeastern University is already well known for their co-op program, where students spend every other semester working full time. Semester in Silicon Valley is not part of the co-op-- it is the very first program of its kind, and the group of students here are leading the way for this inaugural course. This unique internship allows students to experience human-centred design thinking in San Francisco, where technology, innovation, and design intersect. After being accepted to the program, students in the Entrepreneurship major are matched with an internship where they work a few days a week, learning the ropes of a new industry.
Here at Astro, Autumn is getting immersed in the world of industrial design through taking part in our marketing, business development and research initiatives. And she isn’t just working at Astro this fall - as a part of this curriculum, students also take classes and develop a startup. Autumn’s startup is focused on connecting people more naturally in the physical world, and other students are working in industries anywhere from B2B sales, to comedy radio streaming.
We’re thrilled to be a part of such an immersive, innovative program! Astro gave a warm welcome to all the Northeastern interns working in San Francisco this semester with a happy hour at the studio. Thanks to everyone who came out - check out our time below.
